@georgetakei Shotguns don't fire bullets. The alleged attacker said that he loaded the gun with birdshot. A single shotgun shell normally fires hundreds of pellets. In a closed space shot would be everywhere.

I've seen a post suggesting what happened was:
Suspect ran through metal detector, holding shotgun.
Secret Service Agent #1 shot at suspect, missed, hit Secret Service Agent #2.
#2 "returned" fire at suspect, and missed, five times.
Suspect never fired. That's why they can't find the "bullet" from his shotgun.
